Paul Narowski recounts the career of Brigadier General Robert T. Frederick, who as a lieutenant colonel, commanded the First Special Service Force, nicknamed the "Devil's Brigade." The unit, activated in July 1942, was originally intended for commando operations in Norway, and trained extensively in winter and mountain warfare.
